Seghesio Zinfandel

Established in 1895, when Edoardo Seghesio moved from Piedmont, Italy and planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County‚¬„¢s Alexander Valley.  Zinfandel was reminiscent of the fruit-driven wines of his homeland. Because wine was an everyday part of the family meal and given that Zinfandel is drinkable after only one year of barrel aging, it became preferable over other varietals that need years of aging.  Collected over a century, their 300 acres in preeminent growing regions‚¬€?the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys‚¬€?represent some of the oldest and best Zinfandel vineyards.  The tradition continues more than a century later under the guidance of Ted Seghesio.

This is a balanced and elegantly structured Zinfandel jammed with zesty fruit, offering bold blackberry and licorice aromas and rich, well-structured black cherry, smoky pepper and grilled anise flavors.  WS 92 pts
